Even during a global pandemic, the show must go on. That was the sentiment shared by the team behind the Athens Women’s Football Summit.
Established in 2019, the purpose of the summit is to champion women’s football. This not only pertains to what is seen on the pitch, but also to all aspects of the beautiful game.
The organization’s main event in 2019 was its two-day conference in October. It took place in the luxurious and historic Athens, Greece and played host to many prominent individuals of the football industry.
After a successful outing in 2019, there was no doubt that the second annual summit was to evolve. However, that evolution took on a very different form after the global pandemic hit in early 2020.
Women’s football is serious business
Like women’s football itself, the organizers had to adapt quickly for the 2020 summit. As a result of this change, the event shifted to take place entirely online.
Dubbed the 2020 Online Athens Women’s Football Summit, all panels streamed live across social media. This allowed for anyone from anywhere with Internet access to attend the panels.
