Aggie Beever-Jones: Who is the Chelsea super sub on the brink of a full England call-up?

When the full England squad was announced for the crunch double header against the Netherlands and Scotland, one name was not on the list. A player who could feel slightly disappointed not to be handed a debut call-up: Aggie Beever-Jones.

Aggie Beever-Jones, Chelsea’s 20-year-old hot shot, has already netted five times in the WSL this season. A feat made even more impressive given the attacking options available to Emma Hayes.

Sarina Wiegman’s focus on the Nations League’s importance was perhaps the only thing preventing Beever-Jones from being named to the squad. She was involved again for the Under 23s. She set up Katie Robinson for their first goal in a 1-0 win over France before starring again against Spain.

For Chelsea, Beever-Jones has mainly been used off the bench, which makes her return of five goals in six games something to stand up and take note of.

Aggie Beever-Jones: The goals

Beever-Jones scored her first goal for Chelsea, following two loan spells away from the club. She did that in their 4-2 home win over Brighton. She got on the end of a Sjoeke Nüsken pass to slot home before scoring the fifth in the 6-0 demolition of Aston Villa. All the while beating the offside trap and finishing in style.

After a late goal against Everton, she was a starter in the 5-1 hammering of Liverpool and once again found the net as she got on the end of a Lauren James cross, arriving late to head home and set the Blues on the way to victory.

Beever-Jones was back on the bench for the home game with Leicester. But she again made her mark, timing her run to perfection to head home late on.

With energy, her eye for goal and knack for getting herself in the right place at the right time, it may not be long until Beever-Jones moves from super sub to superstar.

Aggie Beever-Jones: Career to date

Born in Carshalton, Beever-Jones is a product of the Chelsea academy and made her full debut in January 2021.

She moved to Bristol City on loan during that season and scored five times as City finished in third place in the Championship. Another loan spell, this time at Everton in the WSL last season. This spell saw her score twice before heading back to her parent club.

Beever-Jones is now starting to establish herself in the Chelsea side. She is definitely one to keep an eye on as the Blues aim for yet another WSL title.
