Following the news of their new head coach, Jonas Eidevall, Arsenal have announced the signing of Frida Maanum.
The former Linköpings FC midfielder has joined the Gunners in hope to fill the boots of Daniëlle van de Donk, who recently made the move to Lyon.
Maanum has cemented herself as one of the most exciting young talents in women’s football. During the European Championships in 2017, the then 18-year-old Maanum represented Norway. Since then, many have awaited her rise in the ranks due to the standout performances she put in. Her move to Linköpings FC came as a reward for her eye-catching tournament presence.
The Norwegian’s contributions in a national team shirt didn’t stop at the Euros. Back in October 2020, Maanum’s firm finish against Wales was enough to seal qualification for the 2022 Euros in England.
Arsenal finished third last season and managed to scrape Champions League football by holding Manchester United to fourth. Draws and defeats came in heavy at the beginning of their season, along with injuries. Despite the Red Devils’ efforts, they claimed the last European spot.
Goals, defensive duties and so much more – could Frida Maanum be the secret to bringing success back to North London?
