As the women’s game in Scotland continues to grow, BBC Alba have announced their plans to help the progression further.
The Gaelic TV channel have partnered up with the SWPL to compile their first list of fixtures. Seven matches have already been given the green light. With more to be added, the 2020/21 season is engraving its name in history.
Rangers are battling it out with Glasgow City for the top spot – a spot that the Glasgow-named side have obtained for 13 years. Now with the record-breaking TV deal, there’s every excuse to get involved and back the game this season.
The schedule so far runs up until May 9. The last confirmed match will be undoubtedly the biggest of the season when Rangers host second-place City. Clubs such as Motherwell, Hearts, Hibernian and Spartans will also feature in the schedule as well.
BBC Sport Scotland will also show a live game every Sunday. The announcement of their chosen matches will come at a later date.
SWF Chairwoman, Vivienne MacLaren said : “This is, without question, the most competitive SWPL season ever and it’s fantastic to have a broadcast partner committed to helping us grow the game.”
