Darren Carter’s Birmingham City welcome Reading FC to St. Andrew’s this weekend in the Championship, with both sides keen to add another much-needed three points to their tallies in order to stay on course with their targets.

Birmingham City currently sit sixth in the table, having scored an incredible nine goals in their last two games. The Blues have won three of their last four, taking nine points from a possible 12 and bagged five goals from five different scorers during their last outing in the league against Watford.
A win over Reading would see Birmingham continue their charge for automatic promotion – something they narrowly missed last year as Bristol City pipped them to the post by a single agonising point.

By comparison, the Royals are on a difficult run of form, losing three on the bounce (including cup games) and conceding 12 goals along the way. Liam Gilbert’s side also have eight players returning from international duty, meaning he’ll have to manage the side carefully in order to avoid excess fatigue and injuries. But at the same still being competitive.
A win this weekend would see Reading leapfrog Birmingham in the table and depending on results on the other pitches, could see the Berkshire-based side sitting pretty in fifth place as we head into game week six.
