Newly-promoted Aston Villa have announced their first signing of the summer — former Birmingham midfielder Chloe Arthur.
The Scot joins Villa having spent two seasons with their local rivals. She quickly established herself as one of the more important players in the Blues’ team.
Arthur has spent time at Hibernian, Celtic and Bristol City prior to her spell with Birmingham. She is the first addition to an impressive Aston Villa squad, who earned promotion after an undefeated Championship season.
Speaking to avfc.co.uk, Villa manager Gemma Davies said: “Chloe is a current Scottish International, who also has an abundance of Super league experience having played at Birmingham and Bristol City.

“Chloe’s a very technical player, with a fantastic ability to weave the ball out of tight spaces, under pressure and play into bigger areas.
“I feel that there is so much more to come from Chloe, as she has a huge amount of talent and I’m really excited to see how she continues to develop in a Villa shirt.”
The Villains will be expected to make more additions to their squad this summer before the WSL kicks off again in September.
They lost top scorer Mel Johnson after her contract expired and will need to find goals from somewhere. Arthur will be hoping to be a creative driving force behind Villa’s WSL push.
