Brazilian international Geyse Ferreira has joined Spanish champions FC Barcelona. The 24-year forward signed a two-year contract with the Blaugrana club, keeping her with them until June 30, 2024.
Geyse, who has previously played for Spanish club Madrid CFF, has been the top goalscorer of the 2021/22 season alongside Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala, who plays for Barcelona. Both scored 20 goals each in the last season.
Geyse will add some extra firepower to the Spanish champions as they look to continue their dominant run of form.
The forward has been one of the stars of the Primera Iberdrola, and with her contract with the Madrid side coming to an end, she is also one of the most sought after on the national and international market. Even though teams such as Arsenal had placed bets on her, Barcelona won the offer.
“I am happy to have been joint top scorer with Oshoala and that I am going to be her teammate next season.”

Barcelona bolstering their squad
With the departure of Lieke Martens, along with Jennifer Hermoso’s uncertain future, Geyse’s arrival is just what the club needs. The Brazilian has already signed with the Spanish club, allowing her to utilise her potential in Spain and Europe fully.
“Like every big team, I have always enjoyed playing against BarΓ§a. I am here to help the team achieve its targets.”

Geyse is Barcelona’s fourth signing for the 2022/23 season, following the return of Laia Codina and the acquisitions of Nuria RΓ‘bano and Lucy Bronze.
The extensions of Ana-Maria Crnogorevi, Gemma Font, and coach Jonatan Giraldez until 2024, as well as the newest additions, demonstrate the Spanish Champions’ ambition to return to the European scene and win the Champions League.
