Harambee Starlets prepare for Turkish Women’s Cup

The Kenya National Team has reported for residential training ahead of the Turkish Women’s Cup set for March 2-11.

The Harambee Starlets will use this as a build-up for the 2020 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers scheduled between April and June.

Coach David Ouma summoned 25 players to take part in the training. However, Elizabeth Katungwa withdrew from the squad due to personal reasons.

Ouma will also be looking to axe three players from the provisional squad before leaving for Turkey on March 2.

Falling Waters midfielder Jane Njeri could make her international debut. She reported to camp alongside Rachael Muema of Thika Queens.

Other countries who will participate in the Turkish Women’s tournament include Hungary, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Romania, Uzbekistan, Northern Ireland, Turkmenistan and Chile.

A friendly match against the National U16 Boys team has been lined up this Friday. Ouma will be fine-tuning the girls at Camp Toyoyo.
