Chelsea General Manager Paul Green claimed the best is yet to come from the Blues as they dismantled previously unbeaten Manchester United 3-1 in last night’s big WSL clash.
Two second half goals in four minutes from Sam Kerr and Lauren James followed by a last minute strike from Erin Cuthbert ensured it was a comfortable win in the end for the Blues at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday evening.
Lauren James’ performance
It was a clinical display befitting of champions and Green singled out the display of goal-scorer James, who picked up a player of the match award on her former stomping ground.
“She was looking forward to coming back here and showing what we she can do” said the Chelsea assistant.

“She was delighted to get the goal and with her overall performance. She’s been improving every week and long may that continue.
“We’ve got a hell of a player on our hands and we just need to keep developing her in the right way”.
Chelsea’s positives going forward
And James was not the only one to receive glowing praise from Green, who noted he thinks this is the strongest Chelsea side he has ever seen.
“There’s more to come. We are getting better and stronger each game. We did have to be patient but I thought we were well worthy winners over the 90 minutes” he said.

“This is the best squad we’ve ever had and we feel really confident with the business we did in the summer and we’re the squads at.
“We have to try and take this momentum into the coming games after the international break and see where it takes us.
