
Lucy Bronze has made her long-awaited journey across the channel to sign for title-hopefuls Manchester City. The full-back has returned hungrier than ever to push the English heavyweights to domestic and European glory.
The defender’s loyalty to her former club evidently didn’t waver in her three-year absence.
“It was only ever going to be City,” Bronze said. “I didn’t entertain any other conversations.
“I want to push the team on, push the young kinds on and just improve the team in general.”
Bronze also noted a positive difference in the squad since her departure in 2017, describing the quality as having ‘gone up a level’.

Bronze adds her name to a long list of incredible talent that had made the move to England this summer. A plethora of World Cup winners, Olympic Champions and European titleholders have joined up with numerous WSL sides.
Embed from Getty Images“I definitely would have been a bit sad if I had missed out on this WSL season when there’s so many stars,” she explained. “I say it every year, but the English league has gone from strength to strength. It’s only going to get better.”
Champions League Dreams
With three Champions League medals already in her locker, Bronze is certainly familiar with winning silverware. However, her numerous titles with Lyon certainly haven’t suppressed her appetite for more.
The right-back is eager to guide City to their first Champions League final.
European success on home soil has evidently been a focal point for Bronze. Aside from her frightening talent, she is unique in that she also brings a strong winning mentality and wealth of knowledge on the major tournaments City will be vying for this season.
“As many strengths as Lyon have, every team has weaknesses as well,” Bronze said. “You’ve got to believe in yourself and go for it.”

Game week one has already shown fans to expect the unexpected this season. Bronze’s arrival certainly marks a statement of intent by City.
