Northern Ireland International goalkeeper Lauren Perry has been nominated for the Scottish Women’s Premier League Player of the Month award.
Perry plays her club football with Forfar Farmington. She was also part of Kenny Shiels Northern Ireland squad during the team’s historic Euro 2022 qualification campaign.
The sharp shotstopper has been key in Farmington’s season, keeping them in a countless number of games. She has made a number of fine saves throughout her first full season in Scotland.
Perry also has a goal to her name this season. That arrived in April against Hearts as she took a free-kick from 30 yards out that looped over her opposite number Charlotte Parker-Smith.
The Ballynahinch native and former Linfield keeper has earned praise from fans and pundits alike in Scotland. This all came despite a couple of heavy defeats against Rangers and Glasgow City in what was a tough month for Kevin McGreskin’s side.
Farmington are currently sixth in the table. A lot of that has been down to Perry keeping her side in games with a string of stunning performances between the posts at Station Park.
Perry has also already won plenty of individual awards during her career. These include Ulster Women’s Player of the Year, NIFWA Women’s Football Personality of the Year and NIFL Player of the Year awards.
The 20-year-old will hope to cement her place in the Northern Ireland squad ahead of next summer’s Euros. She will compete with Jackie Burns, Becky Flaherty and Maddy Harvey-Clifford for a place in Sheils squad.
Perry played 90 minutes in all five of Forfar Farmington’s games during April as they picked up four points.
The keeper’s fellow nominees include Brogan Hay of Rangers, Ode Fulutudilu of Glasgow City and Rebecca Galbraith who plays her football with Spartans.
To win the award, fans will select a favourite player from the list of nominations until 5:00 pm on 11 May via the SWPL’s website. The league will unveil the winner two days later on Thursday, May 13.
