After being rumoured to go back to Germany and Frauen Bundesliga, German International Sara Däbritz signed a three-year contract deal with Champions League winners Olympique Lyonnais.

Bayern to Paris to Lyon
Däbritz, previously having played for French rivals, Paris Saint-Germain, is now committed to Lyon until June 30, 2025. The German International is no stranger to D1 Arkema or Lyon’s playing style. She joined PSG in 2019 and has since played 45 matches in the league and scored 15 goals. She has also won the French League in 2021 and recently also won the Coupe de France with the club.
“The discussions have been good from the beginning. I get a good feeling over everything about the project, the club’s commitment to the women’s section. So it was special from the beginning. And yes, I took the chance to come here.”Sara Däbritz
The European champion with Germany in 2013 and the Rio Olympics winner in 2016 will boost Sonia Bompastor’s team and bring her high-level expertise for the years to come. With her versatility on the pitch, Däbritz is a welcome addition to Bompastor’s midfield, given the departure of Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir.
“I want to help the team win trophies. They always have high ambitions and aspirations to win the Champions League. My ambition in the club long term is to win trophies to help the team and also. Yeah, to grow as a player and as a human being. When I’m on the pitch, I always want to get better and give my best on the pitch. And become a better player and develop on a personal level.”Sara Däbritz
