Rangers Academy graduate, Brogan Hay has won the SWPL Player of the Month for April. The 22-year-old has been a standout player under Malky Thomson this season. She has even been at the hand of some of the crucial goals in blue.
Fellow team-mate Lizzie Arnot won the award back in December, just before the league stopped due to COVID-19. Now after a run of games, Hay has flourished into a mature and skillful young player – one that defenders dread to go up against.
“I absolutely love playing football here like the facilities we have and the staff,” said Hay when speaking with Her Football Hub’s Courtney McKenzie.
“I think I should give them and my team-mates full credit, they’re helping me become the player that I have worked hard to become lately and get that new contract. Playing alongside some of the best players in the country has helped me grow as a person. I think it’s great the belief that not just the staff, but the club as a whole have in the women’s team.
“The investment isn’t going to help just me, but its going to help the whole club including youth players. It’ll help people who aspire to be in the first team and give them something to work towards as it now looks achievable.”
Rangers got back to winning ways on Wednesday, defeating Hearts 4-0. It was Hay who grabbed two assists out of the four of the goals. This came just days after a heavy 2-0 defeat from Glasgow City on Sunday.
They face Spartans on Sunday in a bid to chase City for their long-held title.
