Birmingham City have confirmed that Siobhan Wilson has signed a contract extension.

The deal will see the defender remain at the club until the summer of 2025. Birmingham had previously triggered a clause in Wilson’s contract last summer to extend her contract by a year.

Career: Siobhan Wilson through the years

Wilson joined the Blues back in 2022, making the move from Crystal Palace where she had spent the previous 2 seasons, making more than 30 appearances for the Eagles. The defender joined the Blues with a strong goal-scoring pedigree having been joint top goal scorer for Palace in the 2021/22 campaign.

The Jamaican international has spent the last nine months sidelined after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury in April 2023. With the 29-year-old in the final stages of her recovery, the Blues were keen to secure her future in the Midlands. Wilson made 24 appearances in her first season before sustaining a long-term injury against Southampton.

Siobhan Wilson happy to sign a new contract

Speaking to BluesTV about the deal, Wilson was delighted not only to secure her future with the club but also with the support she has received since her injury.

“I am over the moon to be fair. I am just grateful after everything I’ve been through for the past nine months and for the club to still believe in me. Having an ACL injury and going through that whole process, it is probably the hardest thing mentally that I’ve had to deal with.

“For the Club to acknowledge everything that I’ve been through and reward me with a new deal, I am extremely grateful because I have seen instances where players have had this injury coming towards the end of their contract and they are left with nothing.”
