Following a highly successful year for the Spanish National Women’s Team, Spaniards will welcome the new year with players Jenni Hermoso and Olga Carmona gracing their TV screens.

Spanish national team: Jenni Hermoso

Hermoso, who faced a challenging year after their World Cup victory amid controversy involving former RFEF president Luis Rubiales, is set to appear on La1. She will be the honoured guest of Ramón García, the longstanding host of the New Year’s Eve countdown, known as the campanadas, since 2005.

Watching García eat his twelve grapes has become a Christmas tradition for most Spanish households, with over four million viewers tuning into La1 to witness the presenter in Plaza del Sol (Madrid) every 31st of December.

Spanish national team: Olga Carmona

Meanwhile, Olga Carmona will kick off 2024 by co-hosting a show alongside comedian Manu Sánchez on Canal Sur. As an Andalusian herself, celebrating the new year from the iconic Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz) in the South of Spain is a tremendous honour for her.

“I am proud to announce that I am going to bid farewell to 2023 in Andalucia, on Canal Sur, surrounded by my people, in a very beautiful year for me,” Carmona expressed in the video presentation unveiling this year’s hosts.

In the previous year, over half a million Andalusian families tuned in to Canal Sur to commence their 2023.

This highlights that the Spanish National Women’s Team not only excels on the field but continues to captivate audiences. As households tune in once more to embrace the future. Let’s also take this moment to celebrate these remarkable women, their resilience, and their triumphs. Here’s to hoping for more of their success in 2024!
