Jade Pennock spent three years in Sheffield playing for the Blades, but the 28-year-old winger announced her departure from Sheffield United earlier this week.
Pennock has the impressive record of providing the most goals and assists for the Blades during their current era. Clearly an attacking threat and with eyes undoubtedly set on the Women’s Super League, it could be interesting to see where she decides to spend the next chapter of her career.
Manchester United
With rumours of Lauren James making the move to Chelsea, could the red side of Manchester be eyeing up a new attacking prospect? United finished the league in fourth, far surpassing expectations of the still relatively new team. Pennock’s ability to both score and create goals could make her a very intriguing prospect to the Red Devils.
The team, currently without a manager following Casey Stoney’s departure, is littered with players to whom assisting is natural. However, Pennock’s ability to find the back of the net could make the signing too good to refuse.

Following a flood of departures from the Blues, Pennock could may well be the answer to their problems. Having narrowly avoided relegation, there is no doubt that a new attacking threat is necessary for Birmingham City. Pennock’s experience in tough situations, such as her late winner against Liverpool in the Continental Cup, could set her aside from other prospects the Blues may be eyeing.
Birmingham finished the season with a goal difference of -29 having scored only 15. So, a player of Pennock’s skill would undoubtedly help them move up the table in the coming season.
Aston Villa
After the news that Mana Iwabuchi is making the move to Arsenal, Villa will be looking for a worthy replacement. A player with the class and talent Pennock brings would no doubt fit the bill. With four goals across just 18 appearances this season, Pennock could no doubt inject some attacking flair into the team that seemed to have struggled for goals in recent months.
A bright future
Regardless of the team, Pennock will be looking forward to a successful future in the WSL. A player of her talent should find the move into the top division relatively seamless. With plenty of club and league records under her belt, the attacker has already proved how wise of an investment she will be for whichever team she signs for. Her presence on the field makes her one of the players to watch out for over the coming 2021/22 season.
