The fate of the 2019-20 Women’s Super League season was stuck in limbo for several months. Now we finally have a verdict on the league’s final standings.

It’s no surprise that the three teams in contention for first place had made several appearances in our Team of the Week selections. In fact, league champions Chelsea had a combined 31 players appearing in our 16 TOTW graphics.

As highlighted by our TOTW selections, several individuals had an outstanding season. Leah Williamson featured six times in our TOTW selection. The Arsenal defender kept eight clean sheets across 15 league appearances this season.

Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema also had a standout season. She compiled a total of 16 goals and eight assists. Yet, it was Chelsea’s Beth England that stole the show in our TOTW selection. England was the league’s second highest goalscorer with 14 goals and appeared seven times in our TOTW.

In midfield, several players made multiple appearances in our TOTW. Reading’s Fara Williams (5), Chelsea’s Ji So-Yun (4), and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Aileen Whelan (4) were all notable inclusions.

Sophie Baggaley of Bristol City (3) and Manchester City’s Ellie Roebuck (5) stole the show in goal. Baggaley stopped 70 shots, the most of any goalkeeper during the season, while Roebuck kept a season high of 10 clean sheets.
