World Cup Winner Rose Lavelle Linked With Man City Move
USWNT icon Rose Lavelle has been tipped to join international teammate Sam Mewis in moving across the pond to the FAWSL.
According to The Athletic, Lavelle is ‘weighing her options’ after being offered a new deal by current team Washington Spirit, where she has spent two seasons. However, she is also interested in following Mewis to Manchester City.
The 25-year-old midfielder has represented USA at a senior level 45 times and has scored 12 international goals.
USWNT Star Sam Mewis Set for Man City Challenge
North Carolina Courage ace and USA regular Sam Mewis is reportedly headed to England after agreeing terms with Manchester City (via The Athletic).
The World Cup-winning midfielder, 27, will join her new side after spending her whole senior career to date in the States. Mewis boasts 67 international caps and back-to-back NWSL titles between 2018-2019.
Kerys Harrop Embarks on new WSL Journey After 20 Years
Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of 29-year-old Kerys Harrop on a two-year deal. The defender joins the North London outfit after spending an admirable 20 years with girlhood club Birmingham City.
Harrop boasts 135 WSL appearances and has represented England at youth level. She will wear the No.5 shirt for Spurs.
“Having previously played in FA Cup finals and in the Champions League, I want to experience that again and I’m hopeful of doing that here at Spurs,” the centre-back told the club.
Jessie Fleming Joins Chelsea in First Senior Move
Canada international and hot prospect Jessie Fleming has penned a three-year deal with reigning WSL champions Chelsea.
The box-to-box midfielder joins the West London side after spending four years with university programme UCLA Bruins.
Despite not yet appearing at senior club level, Fleming has made 77 appearances on the International stage, becoming the second youngest player in history to represent Canada when she was just 15.
Now 22, Fleming will look to make an impact at her new club as she joins fellow household names like Sam Kerr and Bethany England.
Deanna Cooper Joins Reading From Chelsea
The Royals have signed 27-year-old centre-back Deanna Cooper from rival top-flight side Chelsea. The defender spent three years with the Blues and helped them win the WSL Spring Series back in 2017.
Cooper suffered an ACL injury during the 2017/18 season but made a total of 29 appearances for the West London outfit.
“She is a gifted player who wears her heart on her sleeve and does everything for her team. I believe she will fit into my squad perfectly and definitely suits our style of play. I’m excited to see her in a Reading shirt,” manager Kelly Chambers told readingfc.co.uk.
Reading Scoop Arsenal duo
Danielle Carter and Emma Mitchell have signed for the Royals ahead of next season after both leaving North London.
Mitchell, 27, enjoyed a short stint on loan with Tottenham Hotspur before the season came to a close. The left-back has 60 caps for international side Scotland and has won six major honours with Arsenal, including the WSL title.
Teammate Carter, 27, joins Reading off the back of a difficult spell with multiple ACL injuries. The striker will be looking for a fresh start and brings 11 years of experience at Arsenal with her.
Aston Villa Welcome Diana Silva to the Den
Portuguese striker Diana Silva joins newly-promoted Aston Villa ahead of their 2020/21 season in the FAWSL. The 25-year-old makes the move from Sporting CP and will look to link-up with fellow new recruits Chloe Arthur and Anita Asante.
Silva has 58 caps for Portugal at a senior level.
“We’ve picked up a young talent who’s been doing very well with her national team and scoring goals. We’ve been monitoring her progress since before lockdown and we’re really excited that she’s finally an Aston Villa player,” Gemma Davies told avfc.co.uk.
Gunners Bolster Defence
Noëlle Maritz: A Swiss international who has represented her country 80 times on the international stage. The 24-year-old defender, originally born in California, joins the Gunners from VfL Wolfsburg.
Lydia Williams: Arsenal add another Aussie to their ranks with the addition of goalkeeper Lydia Williams. The shot-stopper, 32, makes the long-haul flight from Melbourne City. She has also played for OL Reign, Houston Dash and Chicago Red Stars.
Williams has an impressive 88 senior caps for Australia.
Danish Compatriots Sign for Everton
Nicoline Sorensen: Highly-rated 22-year-old forward who has 30 senior caps for Denmark. She joins the Toffees from Danish side Brondby.
Rikke Sevecke: A 24-year-old defender who joins Denmark International teammate Sorensen at the Merseyside outfit. Sevecke has 19 senior caps and makes the move to England from D1 side FC Fleury 91.
West Ham Strengthen Squad with Three New Signings
Maz Pacheco: Highly-rated prospect turned senior defender who joins the Hammers from fellow WSL side Reading. The 21-year-old has represented England across all youth levels.
Kateřina Svitková: The midfielder makes her move to the English top flight after seven years in her native country with Slavia Prague. The 24-year-old has 35 caps for the Czech Republic.
Hawa Cissoko: The Irons welcome defender and France international Cissoko to their ranks after she transfers from former club ASJ Soyaux in D1.
