Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor has hinted that Rose Lavelle could make her City bow against Arsenal in this Wednesday’s FA Cup semi-final.

Lavelle joined City this summer on a loan move from NWSL side Washington Spirit.

The talented midfielder is yet to make an appearance for the blue side of Manchester following some injury issues.

The 25-year-old American has made an impression with fans all over the world in the last few years. She helped the USA to their second consecutive World Cup in 2019.

Her quick-thinking and attacking style of football has endeared her to many, with City fans eager to see her play for them.

Gareth Taylor’s Tease

“Rose [Lavelle] has been training hard,” City boss Taylor said. “What we’re trying to do with her is make sure that when she is introduced – which is hopefully over the next couple of games – she’s ready.”

Rose has struggled with an ankle injury since joining City from Washington Spirit but is nearly ready to be unleashed.

“It’s just been a case of keeping the reins on her slightly before we let her go and do her thing.

“Hopefully we start to see that, it’ll give us another option which is great. We’re building a squad for the next couple seasons and she’ll help us compete on all levels.”

City face a tough run of games. Arsenal in the FA Cup tomorrow, Alex Morgan’s Spurs on Sunday and an impressive Everton team next Wednesday, the Cityzens could use someone of Lavelle’s quality in the team.

That’s not to say City don’t have quality. Both Sam Mewis and Chloe Kelly have hit the ground running in their first few games this season.

The returning Lucy Bronze has looked as impressive as ever. But the England defender looks set to miss a couple of games through injury herself.
