Just days after the signing of Deyna Castellanos and Leila Ouahabi Manchester City have completed the signing of Laia Aleixandri. The 21 year old joins Gareth Taylor’s side on a three year deal that will see Laia wear the No.4 shirt.
The defender makes the move to Manchester from Atlético de Madrid where she has spent the previous 5 years since joining from Barcelona’s academy.
Gareth Taylor will no doubt be hoping the signing of the 21 year old will help his side as they look to pursue European success over the coming season.
Despite being just 21 years old, Aleixandri has also made her mark on the international stage. Scoring 2 goals in just 10 senior appearances for Spain, the new City defender could well be a key signing for the Cityzens over the coming season.
Speaking on the move City manager Gareth Taylor said “Having such a talented young player as Laia join our team is a real coup for us as a Club. Even though she is only 21, she has an incredible amount of experience under her belt for both club and country so far and it is so exciting to think about what is to come from her in the future”.
Aleixandri also seemed delighted by her move to Manchester, “I am very happy to be here and to be a part of this amazing club. I am very excited for what is to come. My dream here is to win a lot of titles. And to improve as a player with the help of my new teammates”.
