Tottenham look to have won the race for the signature of Australian international Charli Grant on a free transfer.

That’s according to Sky Sports’ Anton Toloui, who broke the news on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.

Spurs granted a Christmas wish

Grant has 21 caps with the Matildas since making her senior international debut in 2021. In April, she scored her first and — to date — only goal for Australia in a 2-0 win over England in London.

She was part of Tony Gustavsson’s squad that reached the semifinals of the 2023 World Cup. But she had just one appearance off the bench during the tournament, which came deep into injury time against Canada in the Matilda’s final group-stage game.

After making her Adelaide United debut in 2018, she headed to Sweden in 2021, firstly with Rosengård and then on loan with Vittsjö in 2022.

That loan became permanent at the start of 2023. However, her departure was announced in November following the conclusion of the Damallsvenskan season, where Vittsjö finished fifth.

Grant will provide some much-needed strength in depth in the full-back areas for Robert Vilahamn’s Tottenham as they look to build upon an encouraging start to the WSL season.
